Katy Boggs

I paint because I must. It’s a need, an expression. A devotion to beauty. A moment of escape.
The exquisiteness I observe, I want others to observe as well. I want to stop people, grab their attention and make them notice the splendor.
Stop. Behold. Escape. Enjoy.
I try to illustrate how I feel when I observe the golden California hills, a peony, the water cresting a wave. I humbly try to duplicate some of this harmony, quietude and magnificence.
My painting style is realism with a touch of mystery and atmosphere. By using oil paint or soft pastel, I can layer pigment upon pigment to achieve the nuances I see in the natural environment of my locale in Western Sonoma. My color palette is real, not over amplified, low in contrast, closer to what I see and feel.
I hope, just for a moment, to touch your soul by connecting you to the essence of nature.
